Here at Laird Superfood, we believe that food is fuel. We define "Functional Foods" as foods that may provide a positive contribution to health, beyond just the basic nutritive value. It is widely known that groups of foods, in addition to their nutritional properties, offer additional potential benefits for overall health. For example, the Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratios found in fatty fish have further positive health implications than adding just any fat to our dietary intake. We consider our adaptogen formulas to be functional food, meaning that these mushrooms are nutritious superfoods that have been shown to offer additional benefits when consumed on a regular basis. The core 4 mushrooms you can find in our Adaptogen products: Organic Chaga Mushroom - This highly desired mushroom, sometimes referred to as “Chaga Gold” and considered the “King of Mushrooms,'' grows on hardwood trees, primarily Birch trees, and is found in the colder, northern climates. Studied for its support of the immune system, Chaga is a “go-to” for overall well-being. Organic Cordyceps Mushroom - Cordyceps mushrooms were traditionally native high in the mountains of China, but are now found all over, most commonly in Asia. A definite in your daily ritual, this functional mushroom is loved by high-endurance performers. Organic Lions Mane Mushroom - Lion’s Mane is an edible mushroom native to North America, Europe, and Asia and is also known as the bearded tooth or pom pom mushroom. Lion’s Mane is easily identified by its bearded look. Used for its properties, you won’t taste the lion’s mane flavor in any of our blends. Organic Maitake Mushroom - Maitake has been used for hundreds of years in traditional Eastern cuisine and medicine for its support of overall health and vitality. Maitake’ means “Dancing Mushroom” in Japanese.

MCTs can be found in any of our products containing Coconut like our Creamers, Hydrate, and Instant Lattes. Coconut naturally contains the full range of MCTs (C6, C8, C10, C12). MCTs are Medium-Chain Triglycerides or medium-chain fatty acids. MCTs may be easier to digest and more rapidly absorbed than Long Chain Triglycerides (LCTs), this is due to their smaller chain length. MCTs are quickly metabolized (burned as fuel) and therefore more efficiently converted for immediate use in the body, they’re also minimally stored as fat, as compared to LCTs. Our fresh coconuts are shelled and pared; then, the white meat is ground and oven-dried. The dried meat is pressed to physically extract the oil without the use of solvents. The oil is then filtered and packaged We work closely with all of our coconut providers to ensure that we’re receiving the best ingredients available while responsibly sourcing from local farms and co-ops. None of our providers use monkey labor.

Our Superfood Creamers are designed to mix seamlessly with your favorite hot beverages. Here is a step-by-step guide to ensure the perfect cup every time: Prepare your cup: Start with a clean, dry, and empty cup or mug. Add creamer: Pour two tablespoons of our creamer into your cup for the best recipe. Gradually add hot liquid:Add in 8-12 ounces of hot coffee or tea to your cup. The temperature should be hot enough to help the powder mix in. Stir well: Use a spoon or frother to thoroughly mix the creamer with your beverage of choice until smooth. With these steps, you'll achieve a smoothly mixed and delicious cup every time.

Measuring our products: At Laird Superfood, our products are regulated based on average fill weight. We include an approximate household measurement on our labeling to assist in the serving portion of each product for customers, but weight by grams, as listed on the package, is still the best way to precisely measure the serving size for all of our products. This is best measured by using a kitchen scale. All gram measurements are based on the density of the product.

With all supplement products, we recommend following the serving size as a daily guideline. With other items, you can adjust the recipe size to your personal preference and dietary needs.

All of our ingredients and suppliers undergo a strict vetting process where we compare their specifications and facilities against our strict standards and run tests to detect any heavy metal content; which checks for the presence of lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury.
